Silverline Audio has announced an update to their acclaimed La Folia loudspeakers with the La Folia Mk II. The Mk II is optimized for being driven by single ended tube amplifiers, but can handle a large range of amps ranging from 7-1,000 watts per channel. The loudspeaker is composed of a 1.25” Accuton ceramic dome tweeter, a 5” Eton hexacone midrange and a pair of 8” Eton heaxacone woofers. This driver arrangement is housed in a rear ported cabinet wrapped in a Piano Carmine Tigerwood veneer. The Mk II achieves a frequency response of 28-32,000 Hz with a sensitivity of 92 dB at 8 Ohms. Silverline’s La Folia Mk II is available now for $12,000 per pair.

Silverline Audio makes some very impressive speakers and they just don't get the recognition they deserve. I don't think I have ever seen an ad for them anywhere, word of mouth keeps them going.

I've heard a lot of speakers, and their Minuets are in the top portion of that list. For $600 they are an absolute steal. The owner of the company, Alan Yun, is also one of the nicest people I have ever met. At last year's HES show, he was putting some very expensive speakers to shame with his $5 garage sale cd player, low-power amp and a pair of minuets.

Their product range is less confusing than it used to be, when they had totally different floorstanders coming in at the same price point, but it's still a bit disjointed when compared to ranges like the Usher Dancer series or JM Lab Utopia Be series, which have an obvious price/performance ladder. Silverline uses different cabinet designs, at least four totally different tweeters, etc. It's like pick something and stick with it already.
