M-Audio Studiophile Monitors Go Deluxe

M-Audio has announced newly updated versions of their active Studiophile BX5a and BX8a monitors, which are now called the BX5a Deluxe and BX8a Deluxe. The Deluxe treatment consists of new waveguides for improved imaging, custom amplifier tuning for enhanced integration between the high and low frequencies, a new low-frequency transducer for the BX5a Deluxe and tuning tweaks for the BX8a Deluxe. The Studiophile BX5a Deluxe features a 5” Kevlar woofer, 70 watts of bi-amplification, and is priced at $399.95/pr. The The Studiophile BX8a features an 8” Kevlar woofer, 130 watts of bi-amplification, and is priced $599.95/pr.

I've listened to a pair of BX5's not near as flat as nearfield monitors should be. At this price point, they're not going to be competing with the likes of Mackie or Genelec anyway.

M-Audio - Famous for cheap speakers, not good speakers.
