New Cerwin-Vega! Professional Speakers

Cerwin-Vega!, one of the very few companies excited enough about itself to put an exclamation point in its name, has announced a raft of new professional subwoofers, both active and passive, and a new full range active speaker. The new passive series consists of two models, the CVP-121 and CVP-118. Both models feature solid .7” hardwood enclosures and cast aluminum grilles which also act as heat sinks for the woofers. The CVP-121 ($1,299) uses a huge 21” woofer with Cerwin-Vega’s “Stroker” technology - a three spider design which optimizes cone excursion and voice coil efficiency and allows for 2000 watts continuous/4000 watts peak power handling.
The CVP-121 has a frequency response of 32Hz – 135Hz, and is capable of 136dB maximum SPL. The CVP-118 ($799) uses an 18” woofer with 700 watts continuous/1400 watts peak power handling. Its frequency response is 41Hz – 135Hz, with 131dB maximum SPL.

The new CVA-115 ($1,049) joins the CVA-118 and CVA-121 in the active subwoofer series. It uses a 15” woofer powered by a high-efficiency Class H amplifier with 700 watts continuous/1400 watts peak power. Additional features include a sweepable low pass filter, a 4-position high pass filter and a Master/Slave mode for daisy chaining multiple units. The CVA-115’s frequency response is 41Hz – 135Hz (-3dB) with 131dB of maximum SPL.

The new CVA-28 active full range top box ($849) is designed to be used either as a standalone system or in conjunction with CVA-115, CVA-118, or CVA-121 subwoofers. Up to three CVA-28 speakers can be horizontally arrayed on top of the subwoofers via the “antler” mounting system for optimal dispersion angles. Developed with the help of pro sound company experts, the 3-way CVA-28 uses dual 8” custom designed woofers and a concentric compression driver configuration for high frequency reproduction. Power is provided by a 3-way 400 watts continuous/800 watts peak power integrated amplifier. The CVA-28’s frequency response is 70Hz – 20kHz (+/-3dB) with 128dB maximum SPL.
Thanks to Greg Mondshein with Max Borges Agency for the info.

I wish they would sell that 21" stroker based sub by itself. I'm sure there are quite a few people out there that would grab a couple for HT like you mentioned.
