Musical Fidelity A5.5 Series

Musical Fidelity has released newly updated versions of its A5 integrated amplifier and CD player, which are now designated A5.5. The A5.5 integrated amplifier features new front panel cosmetics, new Sanken output devices, and new optically coupled feedback and protection circuitry for greater peak power with improved protection capability. The A5.5 integrated amplifier produces 250 watts at 8 Ohms and 400 watts at 4 Ohms, with 75 Amps of peak current. It has four single ended inputs and one MM phono input, variable and fixed volume single ended outputs, and a USB input.

The A5.5 tube hybrid CD player features an upgraded output stage, and an improved rate converter for better linearity. It has a 24 bit Delta-Sigma dual differential DAC with 8 X over sampling, analog "valve" outputs, and optical and coaxial digital outputs. The A5.5 components are priced at $3000 each.
