Kenwood has announced a sleek new limited edition bookshelf system in their K-series line of products. Only a mere 50 units of the R-K1 will see the light of day, each costing just under $2,000.

Information is a bit vague at this point, but the unit utilizes a Wolfson WM8740 DAC, separate Power supplies for key audio elements and features a thick aluminum housing.

Specs:
- 38 watts x2ch (6Ω) or 45 watts x2(4Ω)
- Frequency Response: 48Hz-45kHz (85dB)

I'd expect that all 50 will be snagged up in Japan before any make their way over the pond.

Interesting... except for the fact that its Kenwood. And why is it limited run? just seems like a bad choice for kenwood..

Yeah, the Kenwood Japan site has a ton of similar bookshelf systems that we don't see too much of over here.

Wow, that looks very nice for a K-Wood.

Seems like an awful lot of cash for a glorified table radio, "limited edition" or no.
