The new TOPlay headphones are an interesting alternative to traditional earbuds and IEMs. They attach to the ear lobe via a lightweight magnetic clip (encased in non-allergenic silica gel), with no part directly entering the ear canal for a claimed 30 fold reduction in pressure against the eardrum vs. in-ear headphones. Frequency response is rated at 20Hz - 20kHz. The $40 (£19.95) TOPlay phones are unlikely to challenge the likes of Shure, Etymotic, and Ultimate Ears for audiophile sound quality, but they may be worth a look for those that are concerned about their hearing.
