The new Ripserver is a complete stand-alone solution to having a standard computer that must be manually operated when ripping CD's. Although you are still going to have to change the discs out, the Ripserver 500GB and Ripserver 1TB both claim to be fully automated. The units can rip as FLAC or MP3 files, with multiple bitrates for MP3's. The units also support connectivity with other USB drives as well as being DNLA compliant. The OS is a Linux build with an Epia 1GHZ CPU and 512MB of RAM. There are multiple output ports as well. The RipServer 500GB will set you back about $1,200 and the 1TB is roughly $1,400.

Seems a bit pricey for something that rips and stores MP3 files.

But, cool none the less...

I suppose, but Its not too bad for fully automated and an easy to use interface. especially for those that dont have the time or the inclination to deal with ripping and everything themselves.

So its basically a computer... that runs linux, and does one thing. For $1200. Wow, what a deal! That makes so much more sense than just buying an actual computer, for less money, and then downloading EAC for free.
