For those looking for a simple and inexpensive product to get started with DIY tubes, the Vacuum Tube Amplifier (clever name) kit from Gakken of Japan may be worth consideration. The roughly $125 kit includes a circuit board with the RCA jacks, volume pot and speaker terminal blocks pre-attached and no soldering required, two 2P3 and two 1B2 tubes, and two plastic horn speakers that look like PA horns after a shrink ray battle. Fortunately higher quality speakers can be attached to the spring clip terminals. Power is provided by a pair of "D" batteries. A pin straightener for the tubes, a screw driver, and a mini-jack to RCA "Y" cable are also included.

Awe... No soldering at all? Lame sauce. This reminds me of Legos.

great idea. That RCA jack placement looks annoying though.

What kind of kit is this, without soldering?

Think of it as a great gift for the kids that aren't quite old enough to start soldering yet.
