Batphone Ear Extensions

The "Batphones", created by Matthias Ries, are a simple and cheap alternative to hearing aids for those with only slight hearing impairment, designed to enhance any sound coming from in front of you and make it a bit easier to hear the winning lottery number announcements on TV. They are made from a single piece of injection molded plastic, and while wearing them will make you look like an extra from the Flying Nun, they are less ridiculous (and definitely less cumbersome) than an ear trumpet out of the 1600s.

I think you'd get stared at more wearing these than hearing aids. I donno...if I was slightly hearing impaired I doubt I'd spring for a pair of these contraptions.

I was thinking about wearing some to an audio show. It would be interesting to see how something like these would change the sound that you hear.

They probably aren't tuned to be very flat. So they probably make everything sound like poo....

yeah... I think I would opt for an almost invisible hearing aid if I was slightly hearing impaired.
On the plus side they are a lot cheaper then a hearing aid.

Complete speculation on my part here, but I would think that the response would be spiked around the range of the human voice. I wouldn't want to hear music with them. :P
