Zohan Bluetooth Audio Marketing Ploy

May 9, 2008 by Lukas Gilkey

Adam Sandler's new movie You Don't Mess With The Zohan probably isn't going to win an Oscar or set any box office records, but it is using innovative audio based Bluetooth marketing. Twenty-five Regal Entertainment movie theaters will have Zohan inspired salon chairs with Bluetooth enabled servers that will allow theater goers to download six different Zohan voice clips to their cell phones.

It seems like a pretty basic concept by today's standards, so it is surprising we haven't seen more of this Bluetooth cellphone based marketing. Regardless, expect to see much more of it in the future.

That's sweet.

It's how I've always sent ringtones I make myself to my cellphone...

Sounds like a gimmick to get people in the door.

My money is on it having a few free ones that are pretty bad, and a few they will charge for that are like the music and what not. Why are theaters trying all these cheap tricks to get us in the door. Just get an Imax built and watch the people flow in, and pay premium.

Do they really think that offering free voice clips will encourage more people to see a mediocre movie by a lame actor? I guess so. Stupid idea and the only use I can see in it is publicity potential. Such as this blog posting :)
