The PDX-Z9 is Pioneer's new entry into the burgeoning market of network enabled integrated receivers and music systems. It combines CD (and unusually, SACD) playback, iPod connectivity, MP3, WMA, AAC, and FLAC support, and network music streaming into a sleek, compact high-gloss black box. An Advanced Sound Retriever function is claimed to be able to restore lost fidelity to compressed music formats. The PDX-Z9 also borrows some features from Pioneer's high end surround receivers, such as AIR Studios sound tuning, an OEL display, and a digital amplifier which produces 2 x 50 watts. The PDX-Z9 will be available in most European markets in June, priced at around $1400.
