Kids and Ports Don’t Mix

There's a pretty funny post on the AVS forum about a guy who noticed a rattle in his rear-ported Athena monitor after one of his kids knocked it off the stand and onto the floor. After removing the terminal block, he kept finding one "Hot Wheels" car after another, until a total of 15 cars and 6 magnetic toy letters had been removed. Some commenters also responded with stories of toy farmers, plastic cows, dog food, frightened rabbits, and even snakes finding their way into speakers.

Some suggestions on how to avoid this kind of problem:
1. Attach computer fan grills or some other type of port cover.
2. Consider replacing your speakers with sealed models, or better yet, in-walls.
3. Don't have kids.

LOL!! Toy cars in the ports is pretty crazy stuff. I can see where a kid would do that though. If the kid has seen the movie Minority Report he might think a ported speaker enclosure is a parking deck for his "Hot Wheels." :)

Hahaha, that sucks. Someone took the handset from my cordless phone once at a party, so all I was left with was the part the plugs into the wall. That was pretty lame, but nothing funky in my ports thankfully.

How did you find the bottle?

You think kids and speakers are a bad combination, try cats and speakers. The cats are for ever trying to sharpen their claws on my speakers.
