Audio Technology 9" on Sale at Madisound

Audio Technology drivers are not easily found in many audio systems, though this is mostly attributed to their price rather than their performance. Built by Skaanig and run by the former backbone of Dynaudio and Scan-Speak, Audio Technology has received considerable praise for the performance of almost all of their drivers. Unfortunately, they are mostly cost prohibitive, but Madisound's sale on the 9" C-Quenze drivers makes owning an Audio Technology product a realizable goal.

The 9" driver (the 8" size quoted on Madisound's site is a reference to the cutout diameter rather than the flange diameter) normally breaks the bank at $530 per driver. At almost half off, it is semi-competitive with the best SEAS and Scan-Speak products for $279. The motor trades a bit of throw (with a relatively modest 6mm Xmax) for decent efficiency (~90dB at 1W at 1m) with usable response out to 400-500 Hz, making this a good solution for many 3-way systems.

If you've got the coin, it is worth checking out for the experience and, if you're lucky, you should be able to sell it pretty easily at a price close to (or, dare I say, higher than) the price you paid for it.
