Seventeen years ago, Japan's CEC introduced the world's first belt driven CD transport, called the TL1. CEC apparently decided it was time for an update, so they have released the new TL1N version. The TL1N features an updated drive mechanism designed to completely eliminate resonance. Electromagnetic noise and vibration created by the act of the spindle motor spinning the CD is removed by isolating the motor from the disc platter, and absorbed by the belt.

The TL1N includes optical, coaxial, AES/EBU, and "Superlink" digital outputs, which are designed to feed into CEC's new DA1N D-to-A converter. The TL1N is now available in Japan, priced at ¥766,500 ($7,085).
