Sony has released their first Blu-ray drive equipped home theater in a box system, called the Bravia BDV-IT1000. The Twiggy-sized main speakers, wireless surround speakers, and center channel achieve their incredible slimness thanks to "finger-sized full-range drive units" (Sony's description). The system controller features two HDMI inputs, composite and component video inputs, and optical digital and analogue stereo inputs.

The HDMI output supports analog upconversion, DVD upscaling to 1080p, and 1080/24p with Deep Color and x.v.Color (xvYCC) output for Blu-ray discs. Sony's 32-bit S-Master digital amplifiers send 100 watts to each of the five main channels, and 200 watts to the subwoofer. The BDV-IT1000 also includes Digital Cinema Auto Calibration, BRAVIA Sync, and Sony's Digital Media Port. No word yet on pricing.
