World’s First Head Unit with Internal iPod Dock
Filed under: Car Audio > Head Units / Receivers
New Zealand's Fusion Audio has released the CA-IP500, the first Head Unit with the ability to dock the iPod Touch, Classic Gen5 and 6, and Nano Gen2 and 3 internally, behind the detachable face plate. The CA-IP500 features a full dot matrix OLED screen and multi-function rotary joystick controller, which takes over for the click-wheel and replicates the iPod's user interface.
The CA-IP500 also includes an internal 4 x 50 watt MOSFET amplifier, four full-range line outputs and a subwoofer output, a 7-band EQ, and adjustable low and high-pass filters. The price is $499 NZD ($350).

Interesting idea, but I would feel weird about inserting my iPod into a hidden slot of my headunit...
