ZVOX Z-Base 550 Sound Plinth

ZVOX, the maker of a variety of all-in-one systems and sound bars, has released a new pseudo-surround sound TV plinth called the Z-Base 550. Designed to support flat panel TVs 26"-50" wide, the Z-Base 550's black vinyl finished MDF cabinet measures 28" W x 14.5" D x 3 3/8" H. The Z-Base 550 features a built-in 60 watt amplifier which powers five 2" main drivers, and a 5.25" subwoofer.

ZVOX's proprietary PhaseCue virtual surround technology mixes different combinations of the left and right-channel signals in and out of phase and sends them to the various drivers, providing a faux surround effect. The amount of PhaseCue effect is adjustable from the included remote control, as are bass and treble response. The Z-Base 550 is priced at $499.99.
