McIntosh has released a new, relatively compact speaker designed for smaller spaces than the massive XRT towers. The XR200 is basically a half-size version of the XRT1K. It stands 51" tall, and uses the same LD/HP (low distortion/high performance) woofers, 2" inverted titanium dome midranges, and .75" titanium dome tweeters as the XRT1K, just in a much smaller package.

Bass response is provided by three 8" LD/HP woofers, augmented by a long, large diameter top-firing port which McIntosh claims provides higher peak bass response, lower distortion and lower levels of power compression. Midrange and high frequencies are handled by a 19-element midrange/tweeter array, comprised of twelve 2" midranges flanking seven .75" tweeters. Frequency response is rated at 20Hz - 45kHz. The XR200 will be available in February, priced at $16,000/pr.
