How It’s Made – Speakers

I stumbled across this very interesting video on Youtube; it's a clip from the Discovery Channel's "How It's Made" show. It's a very detailed demonstration of how a dynamic bass driver is made from scratch.



It also provides a good "speakers 101" explanation of how a driver turns current into sound, covering the magnet assembly and motor structure, spider, basket, and cone.

Amazing how complicated drivers are to manufacture.

Given their complexity and fairly rudimentary build tools, I find it amazing that they can work with such tight tolerances as they do.

By the way, I believe that was filmed at TC Sounds, if my memory serves correct.

This is not at TC Sounds. This is TR (Transparence), a high end pro sound company out of Eastern Canada.
