Aragon and Acurus Return From the Dead

Klipsch has a bit of a history of buying up companies and killing them off. Klipsch acquired Mondial Designs, owners of the Aragon and Acurus brands in 2001, and within a few years, both brands were dead. Palladium and 8008 fans can now rejoice though, as two former Klipsch engineers have started a new company that will bring new Aragon and Acurus models to market.

Rick Santiago and Ted Moore bring a combined 36 years of experience to their new company, called Indy Audio Labs, LLC. Aragon product owners who call the Klipsch customer support line for Aragon products will be automatically transferred to the new company, which will design and market high-end amps, pre-amps, and processors under the two brands. Unfortunately there is currently little hope for fans of Klipsch's newest purchase, Canadian speaker group API (Energy, Mirage).

Good to see Aragon and Acurus getting a third chance. Hopefully there is some business savvy behind the engineers resurrecting the brands.

I work at Klipsch, and actually, we are very committed to the success of the Energy, Mirage and Jamo brands. Aragon simply did not work out for us. Best of luck to Rick and Ted!!

Aragon and Acurus were excellent brands with superb price/performance ratio. I'm sure they can bring the magic back!!
Unfortunately Klipsch's acquisition of API (Energy,Mirage and Athena) in Aug2006 will not have the same happy ending or resurrection as Aragon/Acurus. Klipsch has stepped all over Energy and has bulldozed it's way into Future Shop (in Canada)This was Energy's stomping ground. . . now relinquished to the premier big brother brand Klipsch (already available at Best Buy in Canada?!?) athena brand was blasted out of the water upon aquisition!!!
The Klipsch theology of controlled directivity does not correlate with the unique omni-polar design found in the Mirage product line. The "extremely forward " Klipsch sound character cannot work in the Mirage theology and it would be interesting to see what new products they will produce in the future without the people previously employed at API/Klipsch-Canada.
Klipsch closed all the API facilities in Mar2009 and the people that know Mirage Omnipolar and good sounding Energy speakers were ALL let go. I would really love to see into the future and see what the boys in Indy will do to the Mirage/Energy brands.
Let's put a tractrix horn in the omni-guide!! Service parts are already hard to come by as I've noticed in some AV/DYI forums. API (Energy, Mirage (athena) ) Rest In Peace
PLease note that there have been absolutely zero press releases regarding the demise of the API/Klipsch group in Canada nor of the releases of virtually all staff at Jamo!?!!!
