Krell S-1200 Surround Sound Processor

Krell has released their latest surround sound processor, called the S-1200. Replacing the previous S-1000, the 1200's most significant addition is a new video processing engine which now fully supports HDMI 1.3, including Deep Color, 48-bit maximum color depth, 340MHz video bandwidth, and conversion of analog video signals to HDMI. An extra cost S-1200"U" version adds 1080p upconversion.

While the focus has been on improving video switching, the S-1200's audio capabilities have not been neglected. The discrete current based Class A direct coupled circuitry and twin dual core 32-bit Crystal CS497004 DSP engines are borrowed directly from Krell's flagship Evolution 707. 24-bit ESS Sabre DACs provide conversion to analog. The S-1200 is priced at $10,000, with the U upgrade costing an extra $2,000. S-1000 owners can have their units upgraded to S-1200 spec for the difference in cost, plus shipping.
