Oppo Digital BDP-83 Special Edition Blu-ray Player

Oppo Digital has released a new "special edition" version of their popular BDP-83 Blu-ray player, called the BDP-83SE. The special edition is entirely focused on maximizing sound quality. The video section of the BDP-83 is left untouched, while the power supply circuit board and audio circuit board both receive significant upgrades. The headline feature of the BDP-83SE though are the new DACs - a combination of the renowned ESS Technology Sabre32 Ultra DAC and the ESS Sabre Premier 8-channel DAC.

According to ESS, the Sabre32 Ultra DAC incorporates patented circuits which provide superior sound quality with up to 128 dB dynamic range and 0.0003% THD. The BDP-83SE is priced at $899, and owners of the standard model can have their units upgraded for $299.
