Atlantic Technology announced this summer that it has revamped its 6200 speaker system; while making minor convenience adjustments, the main improvement is the THX Certification. The new System 6200e has earned the most recent THX certification, THX Ultra2, which is essential for an optimized home theater experience. In order to meet these standards, Atlantic abandoned its pedestal subwoofer and replaced it with a standard box type. For tuning in a variety of applications, each loudspeaker includes acoustic controls such as energy adjustment (for brightness), location control (to compensate for a pull-down screen) and boundary compensation (for speaker output). The 6ohm mains and the center are 2-way speakers with two 6.5" woofers and a 1" silk tweeter. These speakers can handle 15-150 watts. The 8ohm surrounds are dipole speakers with two 4.5" drivers and two 1" silk tweeters. They are rated at 10-150 watts. The powered sub-woofer uses a 12" driver and has a rated power handling of 300 watts. The MSRP of the complete 5.1 system is $6500.
