I highly doubt that 180db can be reached. I would like to see the microphone that is used to measure it and what referance is used to measure the microphone. From my understanding a sound wave that measures in that power range would incinerate anything with in 1000 ft. There is also a problem of compresion distortion that air produces which is accounted for when people like NASA look into ingniting the solid booster engines.

I worked at Magna (the auto parts manufacture) in thier R&D labs testing out a new way of blasting holes in bumpers. We used about 15 MVA shot for abut 15 ms into a coil which will blast a hole in a 1/8" channel with extremely clean edges. We were looking at a way around using high powered lasers (very $$$$). We were only producting about 160dbs of noise - which would shatter glass at 50 meters. Nobody was allowed in the test chamber. So at a 180dbs I'm not so sure I can believe that. Unless it was 'A' weighted measurement
