We have already reported on the PS Audio Prototype Transport that we got pictures of at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest, but more details have emerged from PS Audio about their upcoming transport. The long awaited replacement for the original PS Lamdba transport, the new model is called “Lambda MP” for memory player. Unlike other transports, the Lambda MP takes the raw data from the CD without the use of error correction and removes the clock.

The data is stored in a 64mb memory buffer, and a new version of the PS/Genesis Digital Lens creates a new clock and sends it a long with the data from the buffer to the DAC via either S/Pdif or AES/EBU. The Lamdba MP is built in a new chassis with a wooden top that will be available in multiple finishes, designed to support the PS Digital Link III DAC. Production is scheduled to start in April 2008, with a sticker under $2,000.
