Gibson Robot Guitar

November 12, 2007 by Lukas Gilkey

Gibson Guitar has announced that they will be producing the Robot Guitar and it will be available December 7th, just in time for the holidays. Unfortunately for those of us who suck at guitar the Robot Guitar won't play itself, yet...

Below is a summary by Gibson of what exactly the Robot guitar can do.

"1. The Gibson Robot Guitar eliminates tuning problems for guitarists. It automatically tunes to standard A440 tuning.
2. It also allows players to access six commonly used altered tuning presets at the push of a button. These tunings were used on many well know hit songs, giving players easy access for the very first time.
3. The Gibson Robot Guitar allows the guitar to be intonated in seconds after string changes, truss rod adjustments or change in weather conditions.
4. Finally, with the locking tuner, single string changes or changing the entire set of strings are an automated breeze."

All told, 400 Gibson dealers will be receiving 10 each of the 1st Run Robot Guitars. The 1st Run Limited Edition guitar will be a Blue Silverburst finish with an MSRP of $2,499, and the later model will be available in a Midnight finish with an MSRP of $2,139.

We will be at the Gibson Press Event in Orlando December 3rd for the official unveiling of the guitar, so expect a ton more pictures around that time.

Surprisingly cheap for what it is and for who made it.

I think I'll find me a place who has one and see how it sounds as well.

SG's just ugly to me. As for that matter, as are Les Paul's for the most part. Not to mention WAY too thick.

PRS for me plz.

Any info about that press event? Like could civilians attend and if not where could I get a pass?!

I'm wondering if this will be something I need to be at the store super early for, or if it even has that much hype? Sure seems like something worth fighting for to me...
