Arcam introduced its new Solo 2.1 at the What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision Show in London last week. The Solo 2.1 is a 720p/1080i upscaling DVD player that features an integrated 2x50 watt amplifier. The 2.1 supports CD, DVD-A, and SACD formats, and also has a built in DAB/FM tuner. In addition, the 2.1 has both an HDMI output and two HDMI inputs for external sources, as well as Scart and component switching. RS232, infrared and 12V trigger connections are also provided for integration with custom installations. The 2.1 also features a second zone of outputs with separate volume controls, which allows for multiroom installations. Arcam’s 2.1 should be available soon and sell for around $3,000.
