UK audio manufacturer, Cambridge Audio, recently unveiled its updated Azur line at the What Hi-FI? Sound and Vision show in London. The Azur line includes a new pre/power amp combo and a HDMI DVD player. The preamp, called the 840E, is billed as a “high-end preamplifier” that uses Terrapin modules for “unprecedented audio fidelity.”
While the model 840W power amp is Cambridge’s own class XD (crossover displacement) design that delivers 200W at 8 ohms or 500W bridged. In addition, Cambridge rolled out its new 540D V2 HDMI DVD player, which has a revised chipset and video upscaling to 720p/1080i. The new pre/power amps should be available early next year for around $1,500 and $2,000, respectively; while the DVD player is available now for about $500.
