Acoustic Zen Crescendo Speakers
Filed under: Home Audio > Speakers
One of the most interesting setups at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest for me personally was the Acoustic Zen/Halcro Logic room, which featured Robert Lee’s new prototype speakers, the Crescendos. They use the same transmission line design as the Adagios, expanded to a 3-way system with two 8” underhung (short voice coil/long magnetic gap) woofers, two 5” underhung midranges, and a horn loaded ribbon tweeter. Frequency response is rated at 20Hz – 30kHz with 86dB/W/m sensitivity, so they will definitely need a decent amount of juice; SET tubes need not apply. The Crescendos stand 50” high and weigh in at 125lbs. each. The speakers will be available in Rosewood, Walnut, and Grenadilla finishes, with an expected price tag of $12,000/pr.
