Genesis Technologies 2-Series
Filed under: Home Audio > Speakers
Genesis has chosen to once again update its venerable 2-series, the smaller of its two “twin tower” offerings. The new version, now called “G2.2”, was continually developed over the last five years. For the amp section of the G2.2, Genesis developed new servo-controlled bass amplifiers using new Class D modules with zero propagation delay and higher current capability. A huge 1.8kVA power supply module feeds the two amplifiers, which supply 1000 watts to each bass tower. The bass towers incorporate new bracing methods to reduce modal vibrations and box colorations, for faster, more dynamic, and better-defined bass from the eight 8” ribbed-aluminum cone woofers.
The midrange/tweeter towers feature a revised geometry for more controlled dispersion and better integration with the woofer towers, and are now made from solid cast acrylic up to 1” thick, for a more inert baffle to mount the fifteen 1” circular ribbon tweeters and 48” ribbon midrange. The G2.2 system also uses a unique suspension which uses steel spikes, Neoprene shock absorbers, and an acrylic frame to transfer any vibration to earth. The G2.2 will be available in high-gloss black finish for $63,000/pr, with other acrylic colors available via special order.
