C&C's New Speakers Give the Finger to Expensive Home Audio
Filed under: Home Audio > Speakers
Cabe Sipes is a world renowned mobile audio designer/installer that has entered the home audio market with one goal in mind, "to break the traditional designs of home audio and do it with an affordable price tag."
Cabe makes it very clear that if you are someone who shells out $20k for a pair of speakers, then the new C&C line is not for you. They are made for working class people who want good sound that can fit within their budget.

The C&C Home Audio line-up consists of five models, four on-wall speakers and one subwoofer. The speaker pictured above is a prototype and does not have the gel coat finish, lacquer or billet hardware. All of the on-wall speakers use a custom 6" ribbon tweeter and the drivers listed below.
All pricing is estimated and subject to change slightly by the release date.
CJ-156R: Single 5" w/ 6" ribbon on-wall speaker ($550 per pair)*
CS-266R: Dual 6" w/ 6" ribbon on-wall speaker ($650 each)
TS-276R: Dual 7" w/ 6" ribbon on-wall speaker ($750 each)
DS-456R: Quad 5" w/ 6" ribbon on-wall speaker ($900 each)*
RS-110S: 10" Powered Subwoofer ($1,000)
*=shielded

The on-wall speakers are molded fiberglass with solid 3/4" poplar wood baffles. The fiberglass is colored using gel coat and the enclosures come with a lifetime warranty. Any combination of colors and wood stain can be ordered, and C&C will even color match at no extra charge if you already have a color in mind. The baffles can be painted as well as a host of other custom finishes (leather, painted chrome, custom airbrush, etc.), with pricing available upon request. All of the speakers are 8 ohms and power handling ranges from 100 to 300 watts depending on the model.
The front of the subwoofer enclosure is a large fiberglass funnel shape that extends down to the face of the driver which is recessed 8" from the front. The sealed enclosure houses a 10" driver with an all aluminum cone and rubber surround. The plate mounted class-D amplifier puts out 500 watts and comes with the standard controls.
All of the speakers and subwoofer will be available with a 10-day auditioning period. If you aren't happy with the product, send it back for a full refund and C&C will even cover the return shipping.
C&C is expecting the whole line to start shipping in mid-February, and all of the speakers will be available for purchase through their website. The C&C Home Audio website won't be up until the end of this month, but I'm including the link below just for reference.
C&C Home Audio is also accepting dealer and overseas distributor applications at this time. And just a side note, C&C Home Audio does do custom one off speakers for high-end clients as well.

Just so everybody knows the pic is of the prototype. It has not been gel coat finished and does not have the wood finish. The hardware is also missing which will consist of very high quality torx or security screws and bolts. I also want to thank Luke for the write up and encourage everybody to give me feedback. Like it says we are a custom facility and can change designs if there is a need so peoples opinions are very appreciated since I designed and built these for the people not myself.
As far as contact info I can be reached at cabesipes@msn.com or you can call the company number at 765-838-3320.
Again thanks Luke and everybody who reads this.

Actually it was a decision I had to make but the photographer that shot this image and is allowing me to use his images is considered one of the best in the world. Its really an honor that he let me use his work considering that images original would set you back around $10,000. I know I cant make everyone happy but just think......she could be wearing a bikini

Will there be a matching center channel option that doesn't have to be wall mounted?
Frequent reader, first post. These caught my attention. Great site Lucas.

I am actually designing a mount that will work with the wall mount speakers.....so the answer to your question would be yes.

Great to have more on-wall speaker suppliers. On-Wall is much better than In-Wall in my experience. (You will not have the expense of extensive wall repairs when you move)
SEVERAL SUGGESTIONS:
1. Develop an optional hinge mount that allows the entire speaker cabinet to be rotated. Short of that, at least allow the tweeter to be rotated. This will allow greater flexibility in location of speakers.
2. Develop a dedicated center channel that has tweeters moiunted in the same vertical direction as the side speakers. It is crucial that the entire horozontally mounted center speaker also be able to pointed towards the listener heads when they are seated.

I actually tooled up a 45 degree version of the single 5" and the dual 6" so you can mount in the corner and direct the sound into the center of the room. I am going to wait and see what the response is to this series first considering the cost of tooling another line is quite significant. If these seem like a seller and people are asking for the directional series than I will definately make them.
As far as the center channel goes I assumed the same thing but when we did testing the tweeter being vertical directly in front of you narrowed the center stage drasticly so I flipped it horozontal and everything blended great. On the other hand I am not always right so when people begin listening and using these if I here that what your saying needs to be done it will be.
Photos of the quad 5" and single 5" should be up by Sunday or Monday and the sub will be up by next Friday. Trust me.....the sub is worth it.

I have decided to hold off on the production of the dual 7" (TS-276R) due to the fact that with a little tweaking we actually got the dual 6" (CS-266R) to outperform them at a lower cost. We are also going to offer the billet rings as an extra option but they will not be standard. I love the look of them but with the price of billet right now I would not be able to keep the cost of my products where they are affordable to everyone as I intend. I am sorry if this dissapoints anyone and will gladly receive feedback.

I just looked at this comment and it reminded me why I made it in every industry I have ever worked in and the guys not willing to put in the work post idiotic comments on the internet. I love the haters and please keep them coming. By the way there is only one "L" in Walmart smart guy.

I looked at your reply to ssatihs and the comment you made seems to be incorrect. The fact you have made it in every industry is a false statement for this reason. You may have had some glory shots in magazines and tv. But your glory comes of the hardworking hands of other people. You take credit for other peoples work. As I recall you were to make a custom dash and console for a blazer in a Pimp My Ride episode because you were tired of people saying you do not work. Well, as it goes you decided to take a vaction and leave all the work to your once good time friend. You got back just in time to see the project finished and like always took the credit for you friend. I think his name was Jason. Anyway, deep inside you know what I am saying is true. Word gets around quickly my friend. Time to go. I really hope every thing goes good for in you new venture!

I hate it when I miss a reply! Whoever moneytalk is you are incorrect. The center console was built by Nick Schenkle and the dash was built by Jason Ewing and Adam Kurschot. I built the sub enclosure and the rear amp racks. I have never taken credit for the dash or center console......there was no need to. Next time check your facts and on the show it never even showed me talking about or taking credit for the dash or center console. Thanks for trying.
