After consulting and getting all necessary information for the build. Pete Kulicki of PWK designs made me a custom rear-loading bass reflex enclosure for a 4-ohm 10" Dayton MK3 Titantic subwoofer (400rms/565max). I used an existing plate amp from my Velodyne VRP1000. As some of you already know. Velodynes pre-fab subs are good, but I'm turning into an audiophile and just wanted more. More depth, more punch, more accuracy, more realism. With just 115rms/275max from the plate amp, I get near flat response down to 30hz and extension will into the 25hz region with the cut-off at 80hz.. Compare that to Velodyne's 45hz-80hz. I'm a beginner but I can assure you after listening to a few moives and playing some music, I am a firm believer that 90% of your sound comes from the enclosure. I can't believe how dynamic this sub is at 115rms. This enclosure can be felt as well as heard. I love it.
Thanks Pete,
