Excellent bookshelf speaker

by ccdoggy

Pros: Very dynamic, Great output capability, Looks beautiful
Cons: Needs a real 100 watts, larger size for a bookshelf

I work for a audio dealer and thus got introduced to NHT and their linup. My boss had the zeros and allowed me to take them home once in a while and play with them. I really liked how they sounded so eventually after working for him quite a while I bought a set of Threes to connect to my Arcam AVR300. I mainly focus on home theater and movies, but two channel is enjoyable too.

I got them and have been listening to them just about every day. They are exceptional for movies, being a 3-way it is very happy at higher output levels and can do it all day long. I like to watch movies loud, i want to feel the gun shots. I would have no reservations about suggesting these speakers, even at msrp.

Two channel is also very good, exceptionally clear and detailed. I cant comment on the sound stage as i have one of the worst rooms ever for acoustics. Plaster walls, square room and 3 windows. I suppose i could treat it but its also my room.

They go surprisingly deep and powerful for being a bookshelf. the 6.5" is in a acoustic suspension. Listening to the 1812 with the sub off has deceived many people thinking there was another sub in the room somewhere.

Just make sure to have at least 100 watts real clean power. I wouldn't power it with anything less. They claim an efficiency of 87 db.

My setup: Classic Threes, Arcam AVR300, Denon dvd player, Diy subwoofer of doom, Klipsch never channel (yea i know).
