When I removed my Polk R 50's from my HT I had to come up with a replacement for them. Should I drop the Epos ELS 3's in or, the Paradigm Studio Reference 40's? Having already checked out my system with both I decided to try something totally different. I went with new speakers in the Energy C 200 L/R and Energy CC 50 center channel. I already had a pair of Boston Acoustic CR 167's for rear and an NHT subwoofer.

One of the major complaints about digital sound is how non-warm sounding it can be. While this is true I have found the Energy C200 speakers to be well, warm sounding. Talk about channel separation and sound stage. I was blown away by the Energy CC50 center channel speaker too. It is not that big and I was somewhat apprehensive about replacing my Paradigm C170 that is larger and does an excellent job at center channel audio. My only beef was that since I was getting the C 200's I wanted to match up a center with them. Luckily, AudioAdvisor had a sale on ALL energy speakers and I got them for about a 50% savings off the retail price.

The C200's perform very well indeed. I was impressed with their ability to play just about anything with the same flair, rock, country, jazz, and or course movies. Very neutral sounding. If you do get a pair expect your burn in time to take about 100 hours. This is what the manual said. I was somewhat skeptical but after I passed 100 hours there was and continues to be subtle changes in their sound that has only gotten better.

Who ever said you can't get a classy speaker for less than $500 bucks needs to check out the Energy C 200 bookshelf speakers. One other thing that impressed me was the build quality of the C 200's. They are also setup for bi-amping if you chose to do so.

If you have a mid size living room (mine is 16' by 12') the C 200's will perform very well indeed. My HT is back with renewed ENERGY !!!
