Some build pictures of the BIB's and the unfinished setup so far...

Some pictures of the build process of the horns, and a kind of-finished picture...nowhere near being done, but here it is.

Turntable's sold now, my two-wheeled project is taking up the budget at the moment :D

Preamplifier is an Audio Research SP9-MKII, power amps are homebuilt Svetlana SV811-10 single ended triode monoblocks. 8 watts RMS @ 8 ohms. Speakers are Fostex FE168ES Sigma 6.5's in BIB horns.

I might get a Technics SL-1200MK2 just to get something in there for now...I'll have to live off FLAC for a couple months I guess. The speakers still need to be stained to their final color, not sure what that is yet.

Yummy. Can I put in some build requests? :)

JimJ 07-27-2008 03:52 AM

No more audio projects for some time :D

Although I think I can find you the schematic for the monos...actually, there's one floating around out there that uses vacuum tube rectifiers in the PS instead of solid state ones. If I could make any changes it would be to go with tube rectifiers, but the SS ones aren't bad by any means.

Looks like you have a lot of fun going on. EZ riders one of my top 5 films,

What is the two-wheel project?

JimJ 07-28-2008 02:15 PM

Restoring a 1977 Honda CB550 :)

Air cooled, carbs, no plastic fairings, takes a little bit to warm up on cold mornings, not all the amenities of modern bikes...

A lot like tube gear in those ways :D

My brother has an old Honda tore apart in our shop.

I don't know what model it is but it has a weird one piece folded metal frame (not tube) where the motor bolts in at the top of the motor.

Weirdest thing I have ever seen.

JimJ 08-02-2008 05:02 AM

Turns out I passed on the 550F I was looking at, but more than likely I'll end up with something this month. Got a couple irons in the fire.

That one sounds like it's an earlier model...by at least '69 Honda had gone to a tubular frame.

What I really want is a classic BMW horizontally-opposed twin, but those are going for about two grand more than I have to spend right now, even the projects :( Figure at least if I can get a Honda looking and running sharp again, that\'ll keep me happy for a year or two, who knows.

I\'m thinking \'64. But, don\'t quote me on that.

BMW bikes are nice nice nice. That would be a real gem to find.
