Default Gyms and MP3s

A couple of people have mentioned having problems with their MP3 players when they use them in the gym. I think it could be the higher humidity or body moisture that is the main cause. Anyone else heard of this?

Yes, I think this is a fairly common problem. Many of the manufacturers refuse to exchange or refund players that have any moisture damage too. It's probably wiser to look around for a decent arm band or buy a cheap model just for the gym.

Yup, don't just look at the price of the armband, buy something that insulates the player from humidity. Or you could wrap it in a plastic bag, uglier alternative, but you'll save a few bucks if you don't mind how it looks.

Yep, I have heard of that. I don't have one but my boyfriend does. He says the change in temperature really messes with his MP3. I think they should make them specifically for working out because so many people use it for that.

I would have thought a plastic bag would make it worse, as you'd still have to have it in your pocket. Good point about the armband though. I have been looking around the online stores (and reviews) and some are slated for having the sweat soak through to the MP3. Ugh.

I meant use a cheaper armband, but wrap the player in a plastic bag and then put it into the armband, this way you avoid humidity getting through to it.

Has anyone found mp3 player & headphones that are able to withstand lots of sweat & humidity? What is working for you all?
Thanks.
