Available in September 2010.

The M2tech EVO from Italy is a USB to S/PDIF converter that has all the robust features and options the ever changing world of digital audio demands. Housed in a 105 x 100 x 46mm brushed aluminum chassis, with a B-type female USB input connector, the Evo features I2S output, optional clock input, an outboard 9v power supply and a flexible set of digital outputs. The EVO uses Asynchronous USB communications with the host and uses low jitter fixed oscillators with proprietary drivers for Windows and Mac. MSRP is $479. TweekGeek is the US distributor for M2Tech.

Evo features:

  • input for external supply (7 to 11VDC)
  • input for external Master Clock (BNC with transformer)
  • 2 x S/PDIF outputs (RCA and 75 Ohms BNC)
  • AES/EBU output with XLR connector and settable format (consumer and professional) by an internal jumper
  • Toslink output
  • ST output
  • direct I2S output with 3.3V interface.
All outputs (except I2S) are transformer-decoupled to avoid ground noise and EMI interference. Three leds indicate power, data stream in input and external clock presence.
