Default Talking books

I have recently become interested in talking books and so far I've listened to a couple of the classics. I like that they can be downloaded onto an MP3 player, and it's useful for travelling as I used to carry several paperbacks.

My wife wants a Kindle. I'll probably give her one for Christmas. They don't use audio, but still handy to carry several books at once, and not have your hands full.

I don't like audio books very much because most of the time when I hear clips before I buy, I just don't like the tone of the voice doing the reading.

I feel like that about books turned into movies. In my head there is one sound but then the actor sounds different and it annoys me. I would love a Kindle. Are the prices coming down now?

My aunt gets free talking books from a charity because she is registered blind. I think it's a great idea and it's good that it's becoming popular with the general public. Are they expensive if you have to buy them?

I've never done anything like this, and I'm not sure how I feel about it because I really love reading. This would totally change the experience for me. I am getting a Kindle very soon, and that reads to you so I'm going to have to test it out

You can check them out at the public library for free. At least at our's you can. I would think it would be the same everywhere....

I've seen free audio book downloads online, not sure what choice there is though. I like the feel of a real book, which is the only aspect of the Kindle I find off putting.

Jvc thanks for the library tip, I never thought of that. I was surprised to see how much choice there was and it's great to have another option. I will also have a look at what is available online, though I am always wary of downloading from unknown sites.
