Default Integra Sound Processor

Have you heard about this one yet? It sounds superb. At a retail of $1,700, it better be, right? What impresses me the most is that it features balanced inputs and outputs, 4in-2out HDMI 1.3a switching, HQV Reon-VX video processing, Audyssey MultEQ XT speaker setup and room correction, and an HD Radio tuner. What do you think?

I didn't know that there is a sound processor. What does it do exactly? The price is still expensive for me maybe because I don't know where it supposed to be used.

Sound processors are what bands use. I have a cousin in a band and he was bragging about his new purchase after I told him that they sounded different somehow.
The biggest benefit is the better types allow you to adjust the arrival times of the sound from your front stage. Sound processors are also sometimes called "time alignment systems."

I think I would snap it up if I had the cash (or credit line) to do so. Integra have a great reputation on the net and the Dolby system is state of the art, in my opinion at least. Nine built in amplifiers... my dream!

The Integra DTC-9.4 is cool. I was playing with one the other day and it has s sub menu which allows you to set up the volume to mute. Called 'Intellivolume' it allows you to choose complete silence or to adjust it in 10 dB increments. So you can almost wipe out the ads and yet not lose track of your show starting again.

Integra is the higher end stuff by Onkyo. The processor is part of a system using what's known as a pre/pro (preamp/processor) system. These are usually much more powerful and expensive than a receiver. If you want radio capabilities with a pre/pro system, you have to buy a separate tuner. Some of the better known brands for pre/pro systems are Macintosh, Rotel, Nad, etc. Very nice stuff, if you can afford it.........

Which model are you referring to?

I would say generally speaking that Integra products represent a tremendous value. I was the sales rep in Northern Texas from 1999 - 2002 and I sold a bunch of it. I purchased a DTR 9.1 on the employee purchase program and still have it to this day. As upgrades became available for it, I did them all. I still have this unit today and use it daily. I can't recommend their products more highly.

This box is the hub that ties all our other components together. Everything runs to and from this key device. While receivers have nearly reached dime-a-dozen status, those of us desiring separates have fewer options. The DHC-9.9 is nearly identical to the DTC-9.8 in appearance. The buttons and displays are the same, as is the industrial design. The DVD-Audio did not sound as good as SACD. I don't have many DVD-A disc but the sound stage did not sound as wide as SACD.It also buys you access to the latest uncompressed audio formats, such as Dolby True HD and DTS Master Audio, as well as featuring Audyssey's weapons-grade automated EQ and room correction system.
